Hello! My name is Fonda Morris and I am very honored and happy to begin my second year as the principal at Clymore Elementary School in the Fort Defiance community!
I am a proud product of Augusta County schools and have spent my entire career (26 years) as an employee of Augusta County Public Schools as a teacher, coach, and administrator. I grew up in New Hope and Mt. Solon and graduated from Fort Defiance High School and Bridgewater College. I taught at Hugh K. Cassell Elementary for 6 years and Wilson Elementary for 12 years. During those teaching years I also coached volleyball and basketball at Fort Defiance and volleyball at Wilson Memorial where our team won a state championship in 1999. I earned my master’s degree from the University of Tennessee in 2007 and served as an assistant principal at Hugh K. Cassell Elementary and Riverheads Elementary for 5 years before becoming the principal at Craigsville Elementary for the last 2 years. I transferred to Clymore Elementary School last year to return to my home school community.
My husband, Rick, and I live in Fort Defiance so it's nice to be around the wonderful community I work with every day. We love the outdoors and farming life with our horses, a horse boarding facility, and cattle.
I am an extremely proud parent of a son, Tyler Zombro, a current senior at George Mason University. He had another fantastic year in college, both in the classroom and on the baseball field. He is pursuing a degree in the physical therapy field and has a 3.98 GPA. He is a starting pitcher for the George Mason baseball team and was even able to help the team win an A-10 Championship and pitch in the College World Series on national television his freshman year! Tyler currently lives in Fairfax and works for a sports facility and gym. We're very proud of his accomplishments both on and off the field!
I also have 2 step-daughters, Holly and Katie, who are out and living on their own. Holly lives and works in the area so we get to see her and our grand-dog a lot! Katie lives and works in Nashville so we enjoy visiting her and having fun in Music City. We are proud of both girls as they are working to fulfill their dreams!
I also have another very spoiled "child" at home ~ our 5 year old Border Collie-Australian Shepherd, Bailey. She enjoys "working" while riding the four wheeler around the farm as well as relaxing at our house, Since she is the only "child" currently at home, getting enough attention is never a concern.
Needless to say, between keeping up with our family's events, farm chores, and our jobs, I stay extremely busy! During the spring and summer, I am most likely to be found at a ball field somewhere. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing volleyball, riding the four wheeler around the farm, and just relaxing by the fire pit or at the beach, and visiting with family and friends. I recently starting helping to coach a JO volleyball team and that has been great fun!
I have worked my entire career to help children and am very excited to continue these efforts another year at Clymore Elementary, a school with such a great tradition! I am also very excited about the school's future in obtaining the Verona Community next year! I look forward to working with the entire Fort/Clymore community - faculty, staff, parents, community groups, schools, and most importantly, the students! I want to continue facilitating the level of excellence at Clymore, creating a positive and productive learning environment while striving to do what’s best for all of our kids.
I encourage you to drop by to visit or contact me via phone at (540) 245-5043 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you ever have any questions or concerns.
