Instructional Technology: Free Services

Many free online resources rely on data collection to sustain their services. This data could include personal demographics, location information, and browsing habits of the user. As a result, some free services are not intended for use with children under 13.  Others require consent from parents or guardians of children 13 or younger to guarantee compliance with regulations like the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA).

To provide clarity, ACPS has created a datasource (embedded below) of free services with links to privacy policies, terms of use, and how specific resources can be used in classrooms with students 13 or younger. Due to the ever-changing of free services, availability and options can change at any time.

Please note that our purchase process for the division now incorporates data privacy agreements with our third-party vendors. These division-supported digital applications can be used anytime in instruction. A list of paid services for our division can be found on the Instructional Technology Purchase page of the ACPS website.
