Augusta County has just launched a broadband survey. I am writing to community partners for help in spreading the word in any way possible.
Access to broadband service is one of the most important issues for the county. While there are many challenges to internet access that the county faces especially when considering the elevated topography over more than 950 square, rural miles, the pandemic underscored how essential internet access is to education, business, quality of life, safety and health.
By gathering feedback from citizens who can also give us addresses of where broadband is not available, we are able to map out pockets of inaccessibility and guide providers to those areas. In partnership with our local providers, we are able to develop project proposals for grant funding from state and federal agencies.
