September is National Attendance Awareness Month, and Augusta County Public Schools is reminding students and their families that every day counts.
Several activities and announcements are planned to educate families about the importance of showing up to school. The Every Day Counts! Campaign was launched by having high school seniors visit elementary schools to talk about why they come to school each day.

Mark your calendars! Churchville Elementary's Open House will be on August 7th from 3-6. Kindergarten Families need to sign up for a time slot. If you go to the news section of our webpage you can click on your child's teacher and sign up for a visit. All other grades can stop by any time between 3-6. Also, some of our bus drivers will be at Open House and be available to help figure out pick-up and drop-off times as well as what bus your child rides.

2023 Parent Involvement Survey:
All parents of school-aged children and youth with disabilities who receive special education services in Virginia are encouraged to complete the Virginia Department of Education’s annual Parent Involvement Survey. The survey will remain open through December 15, 2023. Annual Online Registration for Returning Students is open through August 15!
From a computer or laptop, the primary household guardian may log in to Campus Parent Portal and complete your student's health information, emergency contacts, and more! Log in at https://augustava.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/augusta_county.jsp and click More > Online Registration.
Avoid lots of paperwork; after Annual Online registration closes you will need to complete manual paper registration to update all of your child(ren)'s information and permission forms (if you haven't completed them online).

We will be holding parent teacher conferences on October 10th. This is a no school day for students. Teachers will be available for conferences between the hours of 12:00 and 6:00. A parent letter with signup times will be coming home with students on September 30th. We encourage all families to sign up for a time. Conferences on October 10th will be for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Preschool will not hold conferences on this day. Preschool is planning a separate conference time in November.

It is time to think about "Back To School"! We are still busy getting our building ready for this coming school year and making all the needed preparations. Here is some important information for the start of this school year:
* Fees have changed for some grade levels for this coming year.
Preschool: no fees
Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade: $15 fine arts
3rd, 4th & 5th grade: $50 ($35 technology & $15 fine arts)
* Fee collection begins on Tuesday, August 2nd. We will be open from 8:30 to 7:00 pm on this day, providing a late night option for families. We will continue collecting fees August 3rd up to the first day of school between the hours of 8:30 and 4:00 daily. Our school office will be closed for training and meetings on Wednesday, August 3rd from 12:30 on. All staff, including our office staff will be involved in training and unable to answer calls or allow anyone into the building during this afternoon.
* Families may come into the building and pay fees in person or there is also an online payment option through your parent portal. This may be the easier option if it is hard to get into the building during the day. There is an additional $3.50 fee for paying online.
* We are hosting an Open House on the afternoon of Thursday, August 4th. More details to come on this event!

We are excited about the first day of school. Don't forget that the first day of school is Tuesday, August 10th for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Preschool students will not begin on Tuesday as teachers and assistants will be doing home visits. The first day for preschool students is Wednesday, August 11th. We can't wait to see our students and get everyone started for a great year.
