Carrie Barb, Principal

A little info about me...

I grew up in Augusta County in Mt. Sidney. I have taught 1st grade and Kindergarten for 12 years and spent 1 year as the Intervention Specialist, all while at Guy K. Stump Elementary in Stuarts Draft. After teaching I moved into administration. I was at Riverheads Elementary as an assistant principal for 5 years and came to Churchville 4 years ago. I just completed my 22nd year in education, all in Augusta County.  My time at Churchville has been wonderful. Before coming here, I had heard so many wonderful things about the Churchville community and school. All of those things were true and lived up to their expectations. I am excited to say that I have been here for 4 years now and that we are getting ready to start the journey of year 5 together.

My husband and I live in Barren Ridge. We have one son, Landon, who is 16 years old and getting ready to start his junior year of high school at Fort Defiance. We also have a little girl who just turned 7 whose name is Kinsley. She loves school and will be in 2nd grade at Clymore Elementary. Of course we can't leave out our dog, Macie. She is a goldendoodle that loves to play and snuggle. I love to read, crochet, cook, watch my son play sports, and do all things girlie with my little girl. I spend a lot of my free time at Smith Mountain Lake. Riding around on the boat is my home away from home.

Becky Gilkerson, Assistant Principal

Hello!

I am excited to be heading into my 12th year as an educator! I moved to Augusta County in my early elementary years and was a Fort Defiance graduate. After high school, I attended Longwood University where I received my Bachelor’s Degree. I then began my teaching career in Shenandoah County where I taught 5th grade for three years. Life brought me home to Augusta County when I met my husband, and I spent three years teaching 5th grade at Wilson Elementary. During my time at Wilson, I also completed my Master’s in Educational Leadership from ODU. Now for the last five years, I have called Churchville my work home. I began my time at Churchville as the Intervention Specialist and then became the Assistant Principal three years ago. Churchville is a wonderful school and community to work in, and I am thankful to be here!

Outside of school, my husband and I have a son and a daughter. We enjoy spending time as a family outside playing, swimming, and exploring. We think the Shenandoah Valley is a pretty special place to live with all the beautiful places to see and things to do!
