Military
Enlisting in the military is a viable option for many students. Some may enlist upon graduation while others may decide to go to college first. Many colleges in the Virginia also offer reserve officer training corps (ROTC) programs that allow students to gain academic knowledge in college before active duty. The military offers on-the-job training and provides work experience that can be applied to many civilian careers.
ASVAB
The ASVAB is a comprehensive career exploration and planning program that includes a multiple aptitude test battery, an interest inventory, and various career planning tools designed to help students explore the world of work. Students who have any inclination to join the military are urged to take the ASVAB. Students not interested in the military can still take the ASVAB for career exploration purposes. The ASVAB is typically offered at Fort Defiance in October.
