Use the links below to assist you in your citations or Works Cited page. The top set of links are for reading about MLA citations, while the bottom links are for the citation makers.

Writing Centers & MLA Questions/Answers

The Modern Language Association website has a great deal of information that will help you with completing your paper in the correct format and with accurate bibliography citations. This is the organization that governs the MLA Style and is premier source of authoritative information.

The Purdue Online Writing Lab is another great website designed to aid the student through all aspects of the writing process. The link used here directs both the student or teacher to a variety of helpful links ranging from "the Writing Process" to "Grammar & Mechanics".

The University of Richmond's "Writer's Web" is another highly rated website that has been cited and used by instructors across the country from the public school to the university level. This site has may resources that will help any writer or instructor. The links for "Where to Start a Paper", the "Editing Checklist", and "Warning Signs of a Rushed Paper" are particularly noteworthy for students.

The Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus Library website link is designed for those students that need color coding to understand MLA citation styles and what is required for each entry.

Citation Makers

The links below are designed for the student to use when they are completing their "Works Cited" pages. Students are encouraged to use these sites to prevent plagiarism from improperly cited sources.

The Landmark's Citation Machine is a decent basic citation machine, but it does not contain may of the detailed citations needed for web sources or databases. Aside from those weaknesses, it a good place to start for most print sources.

The Oregon Public Education Network website is probably the highest rated citation maker found. This site provides many of the more detailed source citations for websites and databases. This sites ease of use adds to the strength of this as a citation source. In addition to the citation maker, this site provides a good overview of the paraphrasing, parenthetical citations, and a "when to cite" instruction.

The KnightCite website is from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. KnightCite is another comprehensive citation maker and contains most of the sources available. It is a little harder to use that the O.P.E.N. citation maker, but it is still a great site!
