Summer Residential Governor's Schools provide high school juniors and seniors with intensive educational experiences in visual and performing arts; humanities; medicine and health sciences; mathematics, science, and technology; or through mentorships in marine science, or engineering.
Each Summer Residential Governor's School focuses on one special area of interest. Students live on a college or university campus for up to four weeks each summer. During this time, students are involved in classroom and laboratory work, field studies, research, individual and group projects and performances, and seminars with noted scholars, visiting artists, and other professionals. In the three mentorships, students are selected to work side-by-side with research scientists, physicians, and a variety of other professionals. A director and a student-life staff provide supervision of students 24 hours a day, throughout the program.

COLLEGE & INDUSTRY VISITS:

College visits are held during Cougar Return and are open for ALL students, but we especially encourage juniors and seniors to attend if they are planning to attend college in the future.  Please listen to announcement and check your emails for upcoming college visits. This is an excellent opportunity for all interested students to ask questions and learn more about the application process, student life, courses for students and much more!!  This is also a great way to make a great first impression on the admissions counselors of the college you are interested in applying to.

Please see Mrs. Goodloe in the Counseling Office or email your counselor if you are interested in attending.

  • Free Intro to Biomanufacturing Camp!

For rising 10th graders through 2025 graduates, this is a collaboration between BRCC and JMU.  Biomanufacturing is a type of biotechnology that uses living cells or organisms to produce molecules or other biological materials for making products such as medicines, food and beverage, and other industrial applications. Students will have incredible hands-on experiences in the state-of-the-art lab at BRCC. Come learn the techniques involved in creating some of the most complex and useful pharmaceuticals.

    Three one-week sessions are offered:

    July 7-11, 9am-4pm

    July 14-18, 9am-4pm

    July 28-Aug 1, 9am-4pm
