Stinger Families,
Below are two camp opportunities taking place in October designed for children and teens that have recently experienced the death of a close family member or friend. Please share these resources with those that may benefit from these experiences!
Opportunity #1: Camp Lighthouse
Camp Lighthouse is coming up October 1-2. Camp Lighthouse is a camp for children and teens (grades K-12) who have experienced the death of a close family member or friend within the past two years. The only cost for camp is a $20 registration fee, which will be waived if there is a financial need. This takes place at Brethren Woods Camp & Retreat Center in Keezletown, Va.
Opportunity #2: Journeys Fall Bereavement Camp
Journeys Fall Bereavement Camp
Saturday, October 8th
9:30am–4:30pm
Millington Stables in Free Union
Hospice of the Piedmont's Kids' Grief and Healing is inviting children and teens ages 5-17 who have lost a person close to them to attend a full-day outdoor camp. The camp will be hosted by Living Earth School in a beautiful natural setting. Children and teens will be involved in nature-focused and expressive activities to promote grief healing. The day will include a parent/guardian’s group, snacks and lunch for campers, nature art, games, campfire, s’mores, and a meaningful closing ceremony. Campers will have fun, see that they are not alone, and understand that their feelings of grief are normal. Transportation from a more convenient location is available if needed!

Stinger Families,
Below is information about events taking place in our community that some of our families may find helpful.
Free Clinic event November 19-20 at Augusta Expoland offering free dental, vision, and medical services.
Salvation Army Thanksgiving and Christmas Assistance application dates occurring in October.
ORCAS Middle School Dental Program offered through Augusta Regional Dental will be visiting our school on December 7th! They will be offering comprehensive exams, x-rays, fluoride treatments, oral hygiene and educational sessions and sealants (when applicable). All services are under the direct supervision of licensed professionals.
This is a great opportunity if you have been putting off having that dental work done! Mark your calendar now for December 7th, and keep your eyes open for forms to come home when they become available.
ROCK the HOUSE Fundraiser
Once again, the Stinger Community Crew is holding a “No Fundraiser Fundraiser” called Rock the House.
Rock the House is quite simple. We are asking for monetary donations.
The fundraiser is a competition between the two school houses, Knowledge (yellow) and Courage (blue). The house that raises the most money will win a prize from the SCC.
The SCC has many exciting plans for this year. These plans include quarterly incentives for all students, quarterly thank you for teachers and staff, funding teacher grants, student celebrations, popcorn for attendance, and much more. In order for these things to be accomplished, we need your help.
Please consider making a donation. Students may bring donations to the office. Checks should be made out to "WMS SCC".
Let’s work together to make this an awesome year for Stinger Nation!
The first cross country practice will be this coming Saturday at 8
am. Please meet in the WWRC parking lot by the road to the lake/star
trail. We are still looking for runners!
Please don't forget to bring physicals and signed concussion forms.
We are looking forward to seeing so many of you this afternoon for our Open House! All of our Educators will be here to welcome you to their classrooms and meet you.
A couple of reminders:
Please complete your online registration to update our records this year.
Remember you are able to pay registration fees ($45) through your parent portal using a credit/debit card! You may also pay in person, but only with cash or check. You may also add money to your child's lunch account through your parent portal by going to the "food service" tab. Or, you may just send money in with your child when they come to school and have them bring it to the Cafeteria.
If you would like your student's schedule printed, please go to the Main Office.
The Administration Team will be giving brief meetings in the Cafeteria to review the ins and outs of Stinger Life and schoolwide expectations. These will be at 3:45, 4:15 and 5:05 so you may choose whichever time works best for you! They will only last approximately 15 minutes.
Food trucks will be available from 4-7! Grab some dinner from Shredder's BBQ, Domino's or maybe just a cool refreshing treat from Kona Ice!
Our Open House will be from 3:30-5:30, and the High School will have their Open House from 5:30-7:30.
