Full time employees are defined, by School Board Policy, as working 35 hours per week. The following benefits are considered components of the compensation package. 

  • Compensation
    Pay is based on a salary scale and is distributed monthly by direct deposit.  Click here for actual direct deposit dates.

  • Health Insurance
    The School Board provides eligible employees with a health insurance plan which complies with all federal and state laws or regulations.  Health plan information is located at www.augusta.k12.va.us/benefits. The School Board currently covers the employee premium amount of the low POS insurance plan.

  • Sick Days
    Full time employees will receive 1 sick day per contracted month to be used in conjunction with School Board Policy.  

                10 month employees - 10 days per year
                11 month employees - 11 days per year
                12 month employees - 12 days per year 

    The School Board will transfer a total of 90 days at the time an employee is hired from other Virginia school divisions that participate in the State sick leave plan. 

  • Personal Days
    Three days per year of personal leave without loss of pay is available to all full-time educational employees.  Personnel paid on an hourly or per diem basis are excluded.  A maximum of 6 personal leave days can be accumulated and available for use by an employee during a contract year. 

  • Retirement
    The Virginia Retirement System provides retirement benefits for professional and support personnel working a minimum of 35 hours per week.

     

  • Life Insurance
    The School Board pays for group term life insurance equal to twice your annual salary rounded to the next highest thousand to those covered under the Virginia Retirement System.
