School Wellness Policy

Augusta County Public Schools recognizes that physical and emotional wellness is essential to the successful learning process and promotes the healthy development of all students. The school division's health/wellness committee, comprised of the School Nutrition Supervisor, Health and PE Supervisor, Nurse Coordinator and Benefits Manager, will work to promote programs that support wellness policy goals for all students and employees.

Nutrition Services

Good nutrition is linked to better grades, attendance and behavior, higher test scores, and more focus and energy throughout the day. The School Nutrition Department has an important job providing delicious, nourishing meals that appeal to varied tastes.

Physical Activity

Being active is essential to living a healthier life.  Youth need at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day and fewer than half are getting the recommended amount. Finding time for incorporating movement in the school day is an essential piece for promoting overall wellness.
