Virginia Readers' Choice

The Virginia Readers’ Choice (VRC) program was created to encourage reading and to promote noteworthy children’s literature. Each year, 20 titles (10 primary & 10 elementary) are chosen as nominees. Students in 4th & 5th grade are encouraged to read four or more books from the Children’s program list and complete a book review form for the book to be considered “read.” Primary titles are read to students in grades PK-3 during their library time. Books are available for check out in the school library. The book review form is also available in the school library.

Students who read 4 or more books receive a certificate of accomplishment and are also invited to a party during the school day where they will vote for their favorite books. Their votes are counted with votes from schools across Virginia to determine the winner in each category.
